The Soi Ha pomelos destined for the UK exhibit exceptional quality, with a sweetness (Brix Refractometers) of at least 11.5, ensuring a delightful taste profile devoid of bitterness. Each pomelo is characterized by readily separable segments, juicy flesh, minimal black dots (fewer than 15), and a uniform, blemish-free yellow peel, as per Vietnam quarantine requirements. Harvested before October 15, 2024, these pomelos weigh between 1 to 1.2 kilograms each. Prior to harvest, they successfully passed pesticide residue testing conducted prior to two weeks, affirming their compliance with European Union safety standards. The farm-gate price for these fruits is set at 16,000 VND each.
Ceremony of export of Soi Ha pomelos
Soi Ha pomelos are one of seven products from Tuyen Quang’s One Commune, One Product (OCOP) initiative exported to the UK in 2024. Despite the rigorous requirements of the European market, the pomelos garnered positive feedback and secured orders from British buyers during their inaugural launch, paving the way for broader access to various European markets.
The successful export of OCOP products to the European market establishes a critical foundation for Tuyen Quang Province's strategic plan to enhance its key agricultural products and specialties, stepwise reinforcing the brand identity and value of its agricultural offerings both domestically and globally.
