During the August Revolution, Tuyen Quang was honored to serve as the Capital of the Liberation Zone and was chosen by the Central Party Committee and President Hồ Chí Minh as the hub of the national revolution.
The province contains 661 historical, cultural, and scenic relics, including 182 national-level relics and 271 provincial-level relics. Notably, 3 sites are recognized as special national relics: (1) Tan Trao Historical Relic Area in Son Duong District, (2) the site where the Second National Party Congress held in Kim Binh Commune (Chiem Hoa District), and (3) Na Hang - Lam Binh Nature Reserve. As a result, Tuyen Quang is often referred to as a "living museum," a treasure trove of priceless documents on the history of the Communist Party and the Vietnamese revolution, instilling pride among the people of Tuyen Quang and across the nation.
Located in the heart of Tuyen Quang City, adjacent to the historic Lo River, Nguyen Tat Thanh Square spans over 8.5 hectares and has become a landmark of significant historical and cultural value to the people of Tuyên Quang. In 2022, the square, under the theme "Nguyen Tat Thanh Square – Essence of the Forests and Mountains", was among 11 outstanding projects honored with the "Asian Townscape Awards". As of 2022, Nguyen Tat Thanh Square remains the sole project in Viet Nam to have received this prestigious award.
