From releasing fish into the stream
Chuong village is about 1 km from Ha Lang Commune People's Committee. People in the village live along Ba stream. According to the people of Chuong village, in the past, the stream had countless fish. Whenever there is no food, people just need to go to the stream and cast their nets once to get a delicious meal for the whole family. The stream is the source that nourishes the entire village. However, the development of society is also accompanied by an increasingly degraded environment. Ba stream is gradually dying due to electric shock and pollution caused by waste. Big fish, small fish, shrimp and shrimp are all absent. The stream is no longer as clear and cool as before.
To revive the stream, some households in the village told each other to bring fish from their ponds and release them into the stream, and at the same time contributed money to buy fingerlings from fish hatcheries to release. At first, only a few households did it, gradually building it into a Club "Environmental protection associated with aquaculture development" with the participation of the whole village. The club has been around for nearly ten years now.
Mr. Hoang The Mien, Chairman of the Club "Environmental protection associated with aquaculture development" in Chuong village, shared: The club operates under the direction of the Party Committee, Commune People's Committee, and the direct management and direction of the Farmer Association. Currently, the Club has 22 members who are village heads, heads of village organizations, people who are dedicated to developing local aquaculture and households living along the banks of Ba stream. Club members are responsible for regularly patrolling and monitoring. If they detect an electrocutor catching fish, immediately notify local authorities for action.
Officials of the People's Committee of Ha Lang commune and people of Chuong village release fish into Ba stream.
After saying that, Mr. Mien raised his hand and counted: Since the day it came into operation, the Club also discovered and reported to the local government to handle 4-5 cases of electric shock in fishing." Every year, people in Chuong village contribute money to buy fish seeds to release into Ba stream on December 23. On average, each year the village releases 40 to 50 kg of fish seeds of all kinds.
Fish release day becomes a festival for the people in the village. Everyone is eager to catch beautiful fish and release them into the cool stream. In addition to releasing fish into the stream, the people of Chuong village remind each other not to throw waste or wastewater into the stream, causing water pollution. Every month, people work together to thoroughly clean and clear the stream, returning a clean green landscape to the stream.
Mr. Quan Van Sy, Party Cell Secretary, Head of the Front Work Committee of Chuong village shared: On summer days, when we go out to see the cool stream with fish swimming around, we find our work very meaningful. The story of releasing fish into the stream seems paradoxical, but it exists in Chuong village and is being implemented very effectively by people. Through fish release, it has helped people become more aware of preserving and protecting the environment and water resources, contributing to beautifying the environmental landscape. At the same time, we can participate in preventing illegal electric shock fishing.
Coming to the story of solidarity
Chuong village has nearly 600 people with 5 ethnic groups living together, of which the Tay ethnic group accounts for over 85%. Comrade Party Secretary and Head of the Village Front Work Committee Quan Van Sy excitedly said: in recent years, Chuong village households have well implemented the Party's guidelines and the State's legal policies. Unite and help each other develop economically, preserve cultural identity, preserve environmental hygiene...
The people of Chuong village developed the passion fruit tree model for high economic efficiency.
Then Mr. Sy continued to tell us about catching stream fish to make a great solidarity meal. He said: "The village has regulations that people can still catch and eat fish, because it is natural fish, but only using fishing nets, absolutely prohibiting the use of electric pulses. In particular, on the Great Solidarity Day, November 18 every year, the whole village goes down to the stream to catch fish to cook a great unity meal. Fun and very cozy. People only catch big fish, and release small fish to continue growing."
Releasing fish into the stream and catching fish for a great solidarity meal has brought people in the village closer together. And the story of the great solidarity day not only revolves around protecting the stream, cleaning the village roads and alleys more and more beautifully, people also chat loudly about how to do business, share with each other their experiences in raising animals. , what crops to plant for high economic efficiency. Therefore, Chuong village is always one of the leading villages with economic models, such as: growing chili and baby melon; raising goats, growing passion fruit... People's spiritual and material lives are increasingly improving, with the average income per capita reaching 34 million VND/person/year. Every year the village becomes a cultural village. In 2023 alone, the village will have 98% of households meeting cultural family standards.
Saying goodbye to Chuong village with its kind and simple people, we passed through Ba stream, under the clear blue stream water, schools of large and small fish like shuttlecocks swam around, so pure and pleasing to the eye. We feel the fresh green color full of life existing in the lives of the people here.
